Roll up your sleeves for the Marxist Student Union

I'm sending everyone a quick note to let everyone know about two events scheduled for next week. If you are interested in volunteering an hour of your time to work on Lee Harris' campaign for the 7th district city council seat we will meet in the lobby of Mitchell Hall at 5:30 on Wednesday Oct 5. Election day is Oct 6 and if you can help get a  pro union, anti discrimination candidate on city council, e-mail for details as we will be doing a variety of work throughout the day. Lastly, on Friday Oct 7 we will meet to submit and decide on a design for the Marxist Student logo and banner. If you would like to see the submissions and cast your vote be in UC 208 at 1 pm. If you were not at our last meeting and would like to submit a design(s) send us an e-mail for more information.

Our next general meeting is Friday Oct 14 when we will discuss "The Communist Manifesto." If you don't have a copy you can find it for free here: Thanks to the kindness of LibriVox, you can listen to the free audiobook of the Manifesto at  After our discussion,  we will have our usual organizational management meeting. Please stick around for the management meeting if you would like to have a hand in deciding what texts we read, what political activism we engage in and the overall future of the Marxist Student Union.

In Solidarity,

The University of Memphis Marxists
